Community Listening Sessions: What We Learned
Throughout five months and 30 listening sessions with Sauk Rapids-Rice community members, as well as a mailed and online survey, these were the top school facilities issues identified by residents:
Address educational and facility needs at Pleasantview Elementary.
Evaluate the need for more early childhood space.
Expand classroom space at elementary schools.
Address safety of traffic flow and pick-up/drop-off areas.
Use current building and land spaces efficiently.
Residents also emphasized improving the safety of our school buildings’ entrances. At Sauk Rapids-Rice, we have heard the concerns of our community members and work on safer and more secure entrances will start after school is dismissed for the summer.
Other facilities issues identified included the need for ADA-compliant playgrounds, restrooms, improved special education spaces and the future of the middle school pool.
